A practical comparison of shell scheme and custom-built booths, and when each one is the better fit.
When you book an exhibition you'll usually see two options: a shell scheme booth from the organizer with basic walls and lighting, or raw space where you build a booth designed for your brand. Neither is always right; the right one depends on your goal, budget and timeline.
Shell scheme
A standard structure supplied by the organizer. It suits first-time exhibitors, small spaces or tight timelines. It saves time and cost, but it looks like the booths around it, so standing out depends on how it's dressed: graphics, extra lighting, furniture and screens.
Custom booth
A booth built from scratch around your brand story and the visitor journey. It suits major exhibitions, product launches and organizations that want a strong presence. It needs more time for design, fabrication and approvals, but gives you full control of the space and the experience.
Five questions that settle it
- What is your goal? Brand presence is different from lead capture or a product launch.
- How many weeks are left? A custom booth needs time for design and fabrication.
- How big is the space? In small spaces, a well-dressed shell scheme can perform strongly.
- Will you exhibit more than once? Some custom elements can be built for reuse.
- What experience do you want? Interactive screens and demo zones need dedicated space and structure.
7G offers both: dressing shell scheme booths, and designing, fabricating and installing custom booths. Not sure which fits? Send us the exhibition and space details and we'll recommend one.
